Develop your path as an independent musician and music scholar, discovering your artistic identity while laying the foundation for a fulfilling global career. A Music degree from Sheffield empowers you to evolve into the musician you aspire to become. Guided by internationally renowned academics, you'll explore diverse areas including performance, composition, music history, ethnomusicology, music psychology, the music business, and audio technology. You'll cultivate critical listening, performance, analytical, and writing skills across various musical styles, investigate musical traditions and their cultural significance both locally and globally, and gain opportunities for composition training using both traditional instruments and digital audio workstations. Our inclusive approach celebrates all musical styles and viewpoints, fostering your growth as both a self-directed musician and music investigator.
