Sheffield's French and Francophone Studies program boasts a distinguished history of world-class research, fostering a vibrant and inclusive academic community that includes a growing cohort of postgraduate scholars.
Our faculty members actively incorporate their cutting-edge research into teaching, with expertise spanning diverse fields. Current research focuses encompass French and Francophone political and literary studies from the 18th century to present day, postcolonial and migration research, discourse analysis, gender and sociological studies, contemporary history and autobiography, environmental humanities, and European language sociology.
We actively pursue collaborative research initiatives beyond academia, partnering with schools, cultural institutions, festivals, nonprofit organizations, media outlets, and international agencies to create accessible, community-engaged projects.
