The MPlan Urban Studies and Planning with Foundation Year is a five-year course, professionally accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute, which leads to an undergraduate Master of Planning qualification. The foundation year of the programme provides people with non-standard entry qualifications a thorough and supportive academic preparation for successful degree level study in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning. On successful completion of the foundation year, students will progress to MPlan Urban Studies and Planning. The foundation year to this degree is carefully designed to build your confidence in your abilities, develop essential academic and study skills, and provide the subject specific knowledge essential for success. You will study within the Department for Lifelong Learning, where we have nearly forty years’ experience working with adult learners, helping them to unlock their potential to succeed at degree-level study.
To be eligible to apply, you should: Have been out of formal full-time Level 3 education (usually A-Levels or Access courses) for 2+ years Have potential to succeed on your chosen course, evidenced by a combination of work, life and prior educational experience Have an understanding and commitment to the subject-area of your chosen course Be prepared for the demands that undergraduate degree level study will place upon you Be 21 or over You must demonstrate that you meet the University of Sheffield’s minimum academic entry requirements for English language (normally demonstrated by GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent).
