Environmental science is an expansive, interdisciplinary field that examines Earth's diverse ecosystems and environmental processes. Sheffield's program was among the pioneering degrees established in this discipline.

Recent years have seen growing recognition of nature's intricate systems and humanity's profound influence, propelling environmental science into a vital global field addressing our planet's greatest challenges.

Environmental concerns have become urgent priorities for governments, corporations, and communities worldwide, creating strong demand for skilled professionals. Sheffield continues leading this field, evidenced by our graduates building careers in research, industry, conservation, ecology, and other sectors globally.

Our cross-disciplinary method connects you with leading specialists. You can customize your studies through modules covering environmental sciences and research specialties like climate change, sustainability, conservation, and environmental technology.

The initial three years of this integrated master's program mirror our BSc Environmental Science curriculum. First-year modules in geography, earth science, and biology introduce Earth's varied environments and ecosystems, forming your academic foundation.

During years two and three, you'll deepen your environmental science expertise through specialized study. The third year features an extensive research project conducted in laboratory or field settings.
