Delve into power systems, power electronics, digital circuits, electrical components, and motor control technologies. This program blends theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience in various electronic and electrical engineering fields. After completing the foundational year with modules in mathematics, physics, and chemistry, you'll progress to your core degree program.
The foundation year serves as an ideal starting point for students without traditional STEM qualifications. Upon finishing these preparatory courses in math, physics, and chemistry, you can advance to either the MEng or BEng degree programs.
Gain expertise in power distribution systems, electronic power conversion, digital circuit design, electrical components, and electromechanical systems. The curriculum offers a comprehensive exploration of both theoretical principles and practical applications in electrical engineering. You can customize your studies by selecting from a wide array of specialized modules in electrical, electronic, and communication engineering.
First-year students participate in the faculty's Global Engineering Challenge, collaborating across disciplines to address practical engineering problems. Second-year students undertake industry-sponsored projects, while the Sheffield Industrial Project Scheme provides opportunities for professional collaboration.
Third-year studies include an independent research project under faculty supervision. The final year features a capstone project where interdisciplinary teams work on industry-relevant research initiatives guided by academic experts.
