The program provides comprehensive training in mechanical engineering fundamentals, with particular focus on modeling and design principles. You'll explore the business aspects of engineering while pursuing an independent research project aligned with your interests.
During the initial two years, you'll study core subjects including mechanical engineering principles, mathematics, and management. Coursework includes mathematics, applied dynamics, fluid mechanics, solid mechanics, thermodynamics, material science, and electrical engineering fundamentals.
Your third year involves an industrial placement, offering invaluable professional development. This experience helps clarify career goals while progressing toward professional engineering accreditation.
While you'll need to secure your own placement position, our dedicated careers teams provide guidance to help you find suitable opportunities and maximize your experience. Placement salaries generally fall between £11,000 and £21,000.
Upon returning for your final year, you'll undertake a substantial independent project and select specialized engineering modules to deepen your expertise.
