Our foundational undergraduate program introduces you to the fundamental concepts of materials science and their practical applications in engineering contexts. You can maintain a broad curriculum or customize your studies through elective materials courses. The MEng program offers opportunities for direct industry engagement via placements and specialized projects, or you can pursue an in-depth research initiative within one of our renowned research teams.
Our core undergraduate curriculum explores the essential theories of materials science and their implementation in engineering scenarios. You may opt for a general approach or specialize in later years by selecting materials-focused electives.

Beyond traditional lectures and tutorials, you'll gain hands-on experience through practical work involving key manufacturing techniques and cutting-edge analytical equipment. The program also facilitates industry connections, providing valuable workplace exposure.

Students have the flexibility to transfer between BEng and MEng programs (subject to academic performance) after completing their second year.

The MEng degree pathway enables direct industry collaboration through placements and project work, or alternatively, participation in an intensive research project with our distinguished research groups.
