For more than a century, the Department of Classics has conducted groundbreaking research. We are celebrated for our profound understanding of classical civilizations' cultures, histories, societies, languages, and religions, and their significance in today's world.

At Reading, we're pushing the frontiers of classical studies. We're innovating with fresh perspectives to examine lesser-explored aspects of diverse ancient societies and cultures. Our work incorporates an array of advanced methodologies and interdisciplinary approaches.
