This Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) Secondary Religious Education (RE) program leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), enabling you to teach students aged 11-18 in secondary schools across England and Wales.

The curriculum examines both secular and religious approaches to education. You'll analyze the role of religious studies in schools, covering subjects like moral philosophy, ethical reasoning, and logical thinking.

Field trips to religious sites will allow you to discover how these spaces can enhance classroom instruction while facilitating interfaith discussions with diverse communities, especially within Reading and its neighboring regions. Our program regularly features guest lecturers from local organizations like Humanist UK and the County Inspector Adviser for RE, as well as representatives from various faith traditions including Buddhism, Christianity, and Judaism.
