Most modules in the BSc Biological Sciences are elective, allowing you to explore diverse subjects or focus on specialized fields like ecology, wildlife, or human biology. You'll learn from leading experts and utilize cutting-edge research facilities. We are also pursuing accreditation from the Royal Society of Biology to elevate the program's quality further.
Environmental biology electives will deepen your knowledge of ecology, conservation, and humanity's influence on biodiversity. The University of Reading's renowned campus, inhabited by more than 1,000 animal species, provides an exceptional setting for hands-on fieldwork. It includes the Cole Museum of Zoology and a herbarium, both offering extensive collections and volunteer experiences. You can also apply your scientific expertise in various ecosystems through optional field courses, typically lasting two weeks in destinations like Devon, Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands, Iceland, Spain, and Colombia.
