Explore foundational concepts of truth, reality, and ethics while building expertise in philosophical reasoning and political theory through our combined BA Philosophy and Politics program.

Philosophy studies at the University of Reading will sharpen your logical thinking, critical analysis skills, and ability to question both personal and external viewpoints. Our curriculum covers core philosophical principles, key texts, major thinkers, and central debates, taught by renowned specialists focusing particularly on ethics and philosophy of mind/language.

The first year establishes essential philosophical skills, while subsequent years allow deeper specialization through courses like Modern Political Thought, Crime and Punishment Philosophy, and Political Thought Through History. The program also includes opportunities to study non-Western philosophical traditions, such as Indian philosophical systems.
