Spatial planners are instrumental in advancing sustainable development and climate initiatives within both urban and natural settings through policy creation and local development oversight. Our fully accredited postgraduate program equips you to build or advance your career as a chartered town planner in today's dynamic landscape.

This flexible program can be completed full-time in one year or part-time over two years. The MSc Planning degree opens doors to varied career opportunities across the planning field, including public sector roles (like local governments, national parks, the Environment Agency, and Natural England), private sector positions (such as planning consultancies), and third sector organizations (including the Campaign to Protect Rural England and the National Trust). Alumni have successfully joined organizations like the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, the Planning Inspectorate, Plymouth City Council, Cornwall Council, Arup, Lichfields, Savills, and WSP.

Qualification Requirements

You require the minimum of a second class honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (planning, geography, architecture, engineering, sociology or environmental science). Other subject areas considered.
If you have no formal qualifications but do have relevant work experience, you may still be considered and are encouraged to enquire about your suitability.
