At the Ruminant Population Health Research Group, we specialize in analyzing animal health and welfare data through advanced statistical and mathematical modeling approaches.

Big data describes massive datasets that demand specialized computational methods for processing and utilization. We collaborate with industry partners to create and test cutting-edge technologies for gathering comprehensive ruminant health data, helping farmers enhance welfare, productivity, and sustainability.

Our research focuses on collecting precision livestock health metrics, creating wearable animal sensors (including accelerometers and temperature monitors) to identify lameness and other welfare indicators, and developing IoT solutions for livestock management.
