Photography and cinema emerged as groundbreaking mediums that revolutionized how we perceive images. Our study examines their roles within distinct historical contexts: the United States in the mid-1900s, Rome during the 1800s, and Italy in the mid-20th century. We focus on creators (including photographers, artists, and journalists), viewers, and the diverse formats these mediums utilized - from personal to public, from oppositional to mainstream. Different research avenues investigate the ongoing discussions about whether photography and film should be considered artistic forms.
