Humans are the most globally widespread species, having reshaped nearly every corner of Earth through our migrations, along with the accompanying ideas, technologies, and material cultures.

The movement of populations and their cultural influences remains a deeply contested topic in political debates.

Our department specializes particularly in religious history, the evolution of production systems and trade networks, and studying the transformations resulting from historical migrations and cultural exchanges.
