Our programs combine academic theory with practical application. You'll learn from leading researchers while gaining hands-on experience with animals like guinea pigs, sheep, chickens, and cattle through lab sessions and field excursions. Select from four specializations:
Bioveterinary Science – explore the biology of animal health and illness
Physiology and Biotechnology – investigate animal anatomy and biological processes, including stem cell research
Livestock Production – analyze farm animal nutrition and reproductive science
Ecology and Conservation – specialize in zoo animal science and welfare management
You'll have until the end of your first year to select your focus area, with flexibility to take modules across specializations and other bioscience disciplines like microbiology and agriculture. All teaching occurs at our Sutton Bonington Campus, featuring working farm facilities where staff contribute to instruction.

MSci Animal Science option:
