Our BA Music Production program equips you for a dynamic and expanding industry that added £1.26 billion to the economy in 2021. This course prepares you for diverse career paths in music creation, whether in video game soundtracks, live performances, or educational roles. We equip you with versatile skills to become an independent artist-producer, developing expertise across digital platforms, studio settings, and crucially, academic contexts.
The University of Northampton's Music Production program unfolds across three phases. Initially, you'll build competency in all core aspects of music production.
The first year establishes foundational knowledge across key disciplines: DAW sequencing, audio/MIDI technology, acoustics theory, studio techniques, hardware operation, sound synthesis, critical listening, and academic discourse. Later years allow specialization in your chosen fields.
During the advanced stages, you can concentrate on specific interests from various options including production techniques, composition, live audio engineering, media/game audio, sound design, or music pedagogy.
