Our Health Psychology PhD/MPhil program allows you to conduct research that advances understanding in this field. Health Psychology examines psychological factors related to wellness, disease, and medical care. At Manchester, our research explores psychological foundations of health (including psychobiological processes), creates and assesses health promotion strategies, enhances patient outcomes, and improves diagnostic and treatment experiences. PhD candidates join the Manchester Centre for Health Psychology (MCHP), a dynamic research community with international recognition. Though based across university departments and healthcare facilities in Greater Manchester, members regularly connect through events and networking activities.
