Our PhD/MPhil Cell Biology program allows you to pursue a research project that advances knowledge in Cell Biology. Breakthroughs in this field represent the forefront of biological science. The Faculty boasts extensive capabilities and specialized knowledge, supported by advanced facilities for confocal, electron, and light microscopy. Studies concentrate on deciphering the molecular foundations of cellular processes including division, signaling, organelle formation, protein transport, differentiation, adhesion, and secretion. These investigations employ various model organisms from animal, plant, and microbial systems such as Drosophila, C. elegans, Xenopus, Arabidopsis, E. coli, and yeasts, as well as mammals, parasites, and crops. Potential research areas encompass: cytoskeletal dynamics and cell cycle regulation, molecular processes of chromosome distribution, transcription and DNA repair mechanisms, programmed cell death in plants and animals, tissue formation, protein trafficking, translation, transport and secretion, cell adhesion and extracellular matrix, stress responses in cells: plant vascular development, microscopic structures of eukaryotic microorganisms and fungi, and host immune defenses.
