The Sociology PhD program spans three years of full-time study (or six years part-time). Students explore a significant social issue they select, guided by a faculty member specializing in that research domain. Our department boasts internationally recognized scholars across diverse sociological fields, including the Cathie Marsh Institute for Social Research. We offer extensive resources for postgraduate scholars, with key research focuses encompassing: social disparities and class structures, racial dynamics and migration patterns, social networks, activism and demonstrations, urban spaces and daily experiences, cultural trends and consumer behavior, plus methodological advancements. Past doctoral projects have covered varied subjects such as digital connectivity in Iran, branding strategies in HIV prevention campaigns, and socioeconomic barriers to university access.
