The PGCE Secondary School Direct (Geography) program equips you with both hands-on training and theoretical foundations to excel as a Mathematics educator. Unlike traditional teacher training routes, this School Direct pathway offers extra preparatory time in schools before the PGCE begins, along with a tailored curriculum. You'll specialize in teaching either 11-16, 11-18, or 14-19 age groups to achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), mastering the National Curriculum and exam preparation strategies for GCSE, AS, and A2 levels. The program emphasizes practical teaching skills through extensive classroom experience, including placements in Primary schools and multiple Secondary institutions. Over 25 weeks of the course are dedicated to immersive school placements across different educational settings. This experiential learning is complemented by studying contemporary educational theories, emerging trends, and key concepts. Partnering with schools across Greater Manchester, the School Direct model enables participating institutions to handpick trainees, with the potential for future employment within their network of schools (though positions aren't guaranteed).
