Building on the foundation of our PGCE Secondary program, this History specialization equips you with the essential abilities to teach in secondary schools, creating captivating History classes. This distinctive focus provides the chance to foster historical enthusiasm while cultivating inquisitiveness and discussion abilities in your students.
Your education will combine theoretical knowledge with practical application, all within the National Curriculum Framework. You'll examine core principles and topics from the PGCE syllabus, skillfully designing and presenting dynamic lessons for students aged 11-16.
More than 50% of the program involves classroom-based assessed placements, combining school enrichment activities with university studies. You'll complete two placements in diverse educational environments, accumulating valuable experience to propel your professional growth.
You are welcome to apply if you have achieved a 2:2 or above in History, or a related subject with 50% History content. Plus, GCSE English Language or Literature, and GCSE Maths at grade C/4.
A satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) background clearance check and Occupational Health check prior to starting the course.
A satisfactory academic (University) reference, or, a satisfactory professional reference if it is more than 3 years since academic study.
