The PGCE Secondary Science (Chemistry) program prepares you to teach chemistry to students aged 11-16 or 11-18. You'll learn to deliver the National Curriculum, GCSE, and A-level content while earning both a postgraduate qualification and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Through university-led sessions, you'll explore teaching methodologies alongside experienced educators, PGCE instructors, and representatives from examination boards and the Royal Society of Chemistry. Collaborative sessions with the University's science departments, Manchester Museum, and the Museum of Science and Industry provide access to exceptional resources. Our PGCE structure blends school placements (accounting for about two-thirds of the program) with university-based instruction across secondary schools, academies, and colleges.
