Our Master of Science in Genomic Medicine holds accreditation from Health Education England and aligns with the goals of the 100,000 Genome Project to develop an exceptional NHS workforce skilled in genomic applications for healthcare. The program includes structured coursework along with either a literature review or a bioinformatics research project. Students are expected to apply their innovative thinking, analytical skills, and scientific curiosity to real-world genomic and bioinformatics challenges.

The curriculum highlights collaborative approaches to genomics and bioinformatics within NHS and academic settings, involving diverse partners from clinical, research, and industry sectors. Instruction comes from leading specialists at the Manchester Centre for Genomic Medicine, The University of Manchester, North West Coast (NWC) Genomic Medicine Centre, and Qiagen.

Qualification Requirements

We require an honours degree (minimum Upper Second) or overseas equivalent : biomedical science; medicine; nursing. Flexibility on entry requirements will be applied to candidates with appropriate extensive professional experience. International students must demonstrate English proficiency through a secure and approved testing system. Specifically, we require a minimum of: IELTS : 6.5 overall with 6.0 or above in each component; TOEFL: 90 internet-based with 20 or above in each component.
