Our MSci Genetics program allows you to earn an integrated master's degree alongside your BSc studies, providing extensive research experience valuable for pursuing a PhD or research career. You'll explore fundamental concepts of inheritance and evolutionary biology while mastering gene mapping techniques and functional analysis. The curriculum covers how single cells develop into complex organisms through controlled gene expression pathways, including the molecular mechanisms regulating gene activation and silencing. You'll also examine the biomedical significance of model organisms like fruit flies and mice, and investigate genetic predispositions to various diseases. The first year includes essential coursework in biochemistry and cellular biology, establishing a foundation for advanced specialization in subsequent years.
