Our Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences focuses on three primary research areas: planetary and earth sciences, societal environmental impacts, and terrestrial life studies. This program specifically investigates dinosaur limb biomechanics, utilizing computer simulations for movement analysis, footprint pattern studies with LiDAR mapping technology, as well as fossil pathology, preservation processes, and developmental biology.

Additionally, Manchester researchers conduct significant work in reconstructing ancient dinosaur ecosystems, examining exceptional fossil deposits, and studying the classification and ecological history of arthropods.
