The Cell Signalling and Membrane Biology research theme is part of the Centre for Sport, Exercise and Life Sciences. This area investigates core molecular mechanisms to uncover new perspectives on cellular activities and their control.
Studies encompass receptor functions, cellular communication, organism development, host-pathogen interactions, along with the molecular foundations and disease mechanisms in conditions like cancer and metabolic diseases, plus signaling and gene regulation in both healthy and diseased states.
Our work employs diverse methodologies spanning molecular biology, cellular and developmental biology, biochemical pharmacology, advanced microscopy, genetic/epigenetic studies, and computational/systems biology approaches.
