Our Master of Science in Nanomedicine Research offers a comprehensive foundation in this rapidly evolving and highly competitive field. This program connects directly with two key research priorities at Manchester: Advanced Materials and Cancer research.
Nanomedicine applies nanotechnology to revolutionize healthcare, such as through drug encapsulation techniques that allow for more accurate targeting and controlled medication release. This field also shows promise for earlier disease detection and enhanced diagnostic, treatment, and monitoring capabilities across various illnesses, particularly cancer.
Presently, hundreds of nanomedicine applications are undergoing clinical testing across all primary disease categories, including cardiovascular, neurodegenerative, musculoskeletal, and inflammatory conditions. As a transformative technology in healthcare, it already encompasses around 80 approved products - from advanced drug delivery systems (including COVID-19 mRNA vaccines) and pharmaceuticals to diagnostic imaging and biomaterials.
