The MSc in Development Economics and Policy offers comprehensive instruction in modern economic theory, applied economics, and quantitative approaches tailored to developing and transitional economies. This joint program between the Global Development Institute (GDI) and the School of Social Sciences (SoSS) is ideal for those pursuing careers as development economists in government, private sector organizations, multilateral institutions, or NGOs. Alongside four mandatory course modules, students can focus on specific interest areas through four elective courses and a dissertation. The theoretical components deliver rigorous training in both macroeconomic and microeconomic development theories. Applied and elective courses allow students to analyze development challenges and policy solutions within global and national economic frameworks. Quantitative modules, featuring a practical development project, equip students to validate theories using datasets while providing instruction in econometric methods and current software tools.
