Pursuing a PhD or MPhil in Development Studies at Swansea allows you to undertake an in-depth research project driven by your personal academic interests.

For the PhD, you'll produce a thesis of up to 100,000 words, while the MPhil requires 60,000 words, both showcasing original research that advances knowledge in the field. The process culminates with an oral defense of your work (known as a viva voce examination).
