The Master of Arts in Political Economy program at Manchester provides an interdisciplinary curriculum focused on political economy studies. This MA program is based in the Centre for the Study of Political Economy, which consolidates the university's internationally renowned research expertise in this field. Instruction comes from faculty members spanning multiple departments within the Faculty of Humanities, including the School of Social Sciences, the School of Environment and Development, and Alliance Manchester Business School. Students can specialize in one of four tracks: Theoretical Political Economy, Political Economy of Society, Space and Environment, Political Economy of Finance, Business and Work, or Political Economy of Development. Each track combines courses from various disciplines across the schools, giving students comprehensive exposure to the diverse aspects of political economy. The research-focused pathway, recognized by the ESRC as a 1+3 program, includes training in both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies to equip students for PhD-level research.
