Our BSc Pharmacology program with Industrial/Professional Experience allows you to complete a year-long work placement during your studies, enhancing your employability after graduation. You'll investigate how drugs interact with biological systems - their target sites, mechanisms, metabolic pathways, and potential toxicities. This comprehensive understanding requires studying drug effects at various scales, from molecular interactions to whole-body responses. The curriculum incorporates elements of molecular biology, chemistry, physiology, and neuroscience, covering both existing medications and pharmaceutical innovations. During Year 3, you can undertake a placement with one of our approved partner organizations either in the UK or internationally. You also have the option to organize your own placement (subject to School of Biological Sciences approval), with opportunities spanning research projects, educational roles, biotech industry positions, and science communication.
