Our MusB Music program provides a varied and adaptable curriculum, letting you select the units that align with your passions while exploring fresh musical styles, traditions, and creative approaches. The program excels in Performance, Composition, and Musicology, with specialized tracks in Music Theory and Analysis as well as Ethnomusicology. We continuously refresh our course materials based on cutting-edge research to stay at the forefront of musical scholarship. Career preparation is also prioritized, with our alumni succeeding in music careers, creative fields, and other industries. You'll be taught by globally renowned scholars and professional music instructors from Manchester and the surrounding region. Instruction and performances occur at the Martin Harris Centre for Music and Drama, where you'll rehearse, attend masterclasses, and perform in the Cosmo Rodewald Concert Hall. Additionally, you'll have access to state-of-the-art digital audio equipment in the acclaimed NOVARS studios for electroacoustic music and interactive media.

Qualification Requirements

A-level AAB, normally including A in Music. If you are not taking A-level Music, we normally require AAB plus ABRSM Grade 7 Theory. Students wishing to pursue performance units should have the equivalent of ABRSM Grade 8 on an instrument or voice (preferably at Distinction), to be achieved by the start of the course. GCSE Applicants must demonstrate a broad general education including acceptable levels of Literacy and Numeracy, equivalent to at least Grade C or 4 in GCSE/iGCSE English Language and Mathematics. GCSE/iGCSE English Literature will not be accepted in lieu of GCSE/iGCSE English Language. International Baccalaureate 35 points overall. 6,6,5 in Higher Level subjects IELTS 7.0 overall with no less than 6.5 in any one component, TOEFL iBT - 100
