Our BA in Latin and French (Joint Honours) program helps you enhance language abilities while exploring the literature and cultures of both civilizations. You can start either language as a beginner or with A-level proficiency, though one must be studied at A-level. Upon reaching the required competency, you'll analyze original literary and historical texts. Beyond fluency, language studies delve into cultural, social, historical, political, and literary aspects of relevant regions, fostering intercultural understanding and communication skills prized by employers. Enjoy top-tier instruction, student resources, modern facilities, and Manchester's rich multilingual environment - Western Europe's most linguistically diverse city. Mandatory third-year placements at partner universities or workplaces in French-speaking nations provide transformative personal and professional growth, including classical studies abroad when possible.
