The BA in History and French allows you to explore diverse historical periods and topics, spanning ancient civilizations, medieval times, modern eras, and specialized areas like economic, social, and scientific history. Alongside this, you'll gain thorough training in French language, literature, and cultural studies, preparing you to thrive in French-speaking settings. History Our program stands out as one of the UK's most varied history degrees, encompassing global historical narratives from classical antiquity to contemporary times. You'll encounter multiple historical perspectives, including political, economic, gender-focused, and postcolonial approaches. Manchester's rich historical landscape serves as an extended classroom, featuring landmarks from Roman settlements to industrial revolution sites and social movement memorials. The region's exceptional resources - including Chetham's Library, science museums, and specialized archives - complement your studies. As part of a leading research institution (ranked 4th nationally for research excellence), you'll learn from scholars shaping historical discourse. French Most instruction comes from native French speakers, with intensive language training (3-6 weekly hours) designed to achieve advanced fluency. Alongside core language study, you can select from courses examining Francophone cultures, politics, and literature across historical periods.
