Ancient History delves into the civilizations of Greece and Rome, analyzing their global connections and enduring impact on modern society. Though these cultures may seem remote, their influence persists. The analytical skills you'll develop can lead to rewarding careers across multiple industries.
You'll explore facets of Greco-Roman civilization including social structures, architecture, military campaigns, gender roles, religious practices, and economic systems—or opt to study ancient Egypt. Language courses in Greek or Latin are also available.
Our curriculum offers diverse specializations, taught by internationally renowned scholars. Faculty research covers subjects ranging from Greek city-states and ancient geographers to Roman Syria, Pompeii, and late imperial leadership.
The program combines traditional lectures and seminars with innovative assessments like digital projects, presentations, and blog writing, complementing conventional exams, papers, and dissertation work.
Ancient History students cultivate strong communication and analytical abilities, mastering various formats for presenting research—skills that prove valuable in professional settings.
