The BA in German and Italian offers an extensive foundation in both languages, covering their respective cultures, linguistics, history, and literature. This program prepares you with the necessary skills to excel in German and Italian-speaking settings. German Our core language courses (available for both post A-Level students and beginners) are enhanced by diverse subject areas, including linguistics, along with cultural and historical modules that utilize German-language materials to strengthen both your language proficiency and understanding of German-speaking regions. Specializations in German encompass historical and modern linguistics, literary analysis, film studies, gender and sexuality, contemporary cultural history, minority cultures, and Holocaust research. Italian The curriculum includes units focused on history, politics, and the literary, linguistic, and visual traditions of Italy, all taught by subject experts. A linguistics track is available for those interested in exploring the evolution of the Italian language and its regional dialects.
