The BA in German and Chinese offers an extensive foundation in German language studies, along with opportunities to delve into German culture, linguistics, history, and literature. This program prepares you with the necessary skills to excel in German-speaking settings. Additionally, you'll gain a solid understanding of Mandarin Chinese, modern Chinese culture, societal structures, economic systems, and political landscapes, as well as China's evolving relationships with Western nations. German Studies Our core German language modules (available for both post-A-Level students and beginners) are enriched by diverse subject areas, including linguistics, and an array of cultural and historical components that utilize German-language materials to enhance both your language proficiency and broader knowledge of German-speaking regions. Specializations in German cover historical and modern linguistics, literary analysis, film studies, gender and sexuality, contemporary cultural history, minority cultures, and Holocaust research. The third year includes an immersive experience in a German-speaking country, with options for internships, teaching English through the British Council's assistantship program, or studying at renowned partner universities in cities like Berlin, Freiburg, Hamburg, Heidelberg, Leipzig, Basel, and Innsbruck.

A-level Grades ABB including one of the languages to be studied This programme is designed for students whose level of Mandarin Chinese at entry ranges from complete beginner to approximately A-level standard. It is not suitable for students whose first language is Chinese. GCSE Applicants must demonstrate a broad general education including acceptable levels of Literacy and Numeracy, equivalent to at least Grade C or 4 in GCSE/iGCSE English Language and Mathematics. GCSE/iGCSE English Literature will not be accepted in lieu of GCSE/iGCSE English Language. International Baccalaureate 34 points overall. 6,5,5 in Higher Level subjects including one of the languages to be studied.
