The MRes program, along with the Latin American Studies MRes and Film Studies MRes, offers a tailored introduction to postgraduate research. It prepares you to become an independent researcher while creating an original project under the guidance of modern languages and cultures specialists.
Specializations include Basque studies, Catalan studies, Chinese studies, French studies, German studies, Hispanic studies, Italian studies, Portuguese studies, sociolinguistics, Spanish studies, and translation studies. Your degree title will correspond to your chosen specialization.

Together, we'll create a personalized reading list and assessment plan to prepare you for your major research project.
With mentorship from active researchers in the Department of Languages, Culture and Film, you'll learn to craft research proposals, locate relevant sources, conduct organized research, and effectively present your findings.
