The English MRes program offers the opportunity to undertake a one-year full-time or two-year part-time independent research project in English Language and/or Literature within a structured academic framework. This degree serves as ideal preparation for those considering a PhD in English, while also being suitable for professionals or enthusiasts seeking to conduct research for career advancement or personal enrichment. Alongside a tailored research skills module, you'll receive one-on-one guidance from your supervisor(s) throughout the program and join the dynamic research community within both the English Department and School of the Arts.
Previous MRes projects have covered diverse subjects, such as examining teenage perceptions of Liverpool English dialects, researching language switching patterns in Spanish-English bilingual youth, analyzing the poetic persona in Shelley's Alastor; or, the Spirit of Solitude, and investigating representations of queer racial identities in modern theoretical works and fiction.
