The MRes in Clinical Sciences equips students with cutting-edge knowledge and research capabilities in clinical sciences. Designed for intercalating medical, dental, and veterinary students as well as graduates in medical, biomedical, and biological sciences, this program offers specialized supervision for conducting significant independent research across five distinct pathways. Participants will gain in-depth clinical science expertise while receiving customized research training, choosing either a broad clinical science track or specializing in cardiovascular/metabolic medicine, eye/vision science, musculoskeletal/ageing science, or women/children's health.
Regardless of pathway selection, students receive comprehensive career preparation, including strong foundations for PhD studies. The curriculum delves into modern clinical research methodologies, current breakthroughs and obstacles, and the application of evidence-based approaches to health, disease, and treatment strategies.
Participants will master essential research competencies including proposal development, evidence gathering, project execution, and data analysis/presentation. These experiences cultivate valuable transferable skills such as analytical reasoning, project coordination, effective communication, and solution-oriented thinking.
Students benefit from guidance by distinguished academics from the Institute of Life Course and Medical Sciences. Our MRes supervisors are actively involved in impactful research addressing critical local health priorities, tackling health challenges across all life stages, and driving meaningful improvements in community patient care.
