Pursue a Chemistry degree at Liverpool and immerse yourself in an environment of cutting-edge research. This program is ideal for students fascinated by materials chemistry, medicinal chemistry, and theoretical/computational chemistry. You'll excel in our state-of-the-art undergraduate labs. Our chemistry curriculum features a shared foundational structure for the initial two years, offering flexibility and options early in your studies. These foundational years combine theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience to establish a robust understanding of chemistry principles.

During your third year, you'll undertake a paid industrial placement (with recent partners including AstraZeneca, Beckmann Coulter (China), Dyesol, Ineos, GlaxoSmithKline (UK and US), Johnson Matthey, Reckitt Benckiser, and Sigma-Aldrich). While on placement, you'll complete a tailored distance learning chemistry module covering core third-year content. If you opt out of the placement, you can switch to the MChem Chemistry (F102) program in your second year or at the beginning of year three.

Your final year includes advanced coursework across inorganic, physical, and organic chemistry, with opportunities to specialize in topics aligned with our research expertise. The fourth year emphasizes chemical research, where you'll undertake a major project within one of our departmental research teams.

Recognizing that students arrive with varying mathematical backgrounds (crucial for advanced chemistry study), we offer a flexible, tiered mathematics course designed to help you progress at your own pace.
