Our Chemistry with a Year's Professional Placement MSci program provides comprehensive theoretical and practical chemistry training, including a year-long industry placement at a leading UK company. This opportunity lets you apply your knowledge in real-world settings while evaluating potential career paths. The curriculum combines research-focused teaching that bridges physical, organic, and inorganic chemistry, incorporating hands-on learning at every stage. During your final MSci year, you'll undertake a six-month research project in our advanced laboratories. This program prepares versatile, skilled chemists for diverse career opportunities ranging from chemical, biotech, and pharmaceutical sectors to broader fields including finance, law, and media.

We recommend students applying with no Mathematics at A-level (or equivalent) to have obtained at least an A at GCSE/IGCSE Mathematics (or equivalent) or a B at AS-Mathematics (or equivalent).

Standard requirements
The Access to Higher Education Diploma must be 60 credits in total.

Access to Higher Education Diploma with 45 Level 3 credits overall: 36 credits must be from units awarded at Distinction, with 9 at Merit.

The Access to Higher Education Diploma must include at least 15 Level 3 credits in Chemistry awarded at Distinction, and at least 15 Level 3 credits in one from Biology, Mathematics and Physics awarded at Distinction.

The Access to Higher Education Diploma must be in a relevant subject - Science or similar - to be considered.

IELTS (Academic) - 7.0 overall with a minimum of 6.5 in each skill.
TOEFL iBT - 100 overall with a minimum of 25 in writing and 23 in each of the other skills.
Pearson Test of English (Academic) - 69 overall with a minimum of 62 in each communicative skill.
