Liverpool provides an inspiring setting for studying Creative and Critical Writing, featuring a distinctive placement opportunity with partner organizations and a vibrant events schedule. You'll enhance your abilities through hands-on exploration of prose and drama. The program includes an exclusive placement module, allowing you to gain real-world experience as a writer-in-residence at one of the University of Liverpool's collaborative city institutions. Working in venues like museums and galleries, you'll refine professional skills through tasks such as crafting exhibition-inspired pieces or leading creative writing workshops.
Evaluation will involve submitting a portfolio containing both creative pieces and reflections on the writer-in-residence experience. Core courses on modern prose and screenwriting will sharpen your craft and industry knowledge (including topics like agent submissions and editorial pitches).

Liverpool creates an energizing atmosphere for Creative and Critical Writing studies, supported by its dynamic cultural offerings:
Highlights include the Liverpool Literary Festival and programming from the Centre for New and International Writing
The University's partnerships with local literary institutions like the Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse
