Chemistry graduates play a central role in scientific advancement, supporting many of the globe's most innovative and fast-moving sectors. This Medicinal Chemistry program provides excellent preparation for diverse career options or advanced academic pursuits. Our BSc curriculum allows students to select elective courses beyond chemistry. Within this program, 25% of your studies will focus on pharmacology and biomedical sciences.

You'll gain comprehensive training in all chemistry disciplines alongside pharmacological principles, creating strong foundations for various professional directions or postgraduate education after graduation.

The initial two years mirror the MChem Chemistry with Pharmacology (F1BF) curriculum, featuring specialized modules in biomedical sciences, biology, and medicinal chemistry. Through a balanced combination of theoretical and practical coursework, you'll develop fundamental expertise during these foundational years.

Recognizing students arrive with varying mathematical backgrounds (crucial for advanced chemistry study), we offer adaptable mathematics courses tailored to help you build skills at an appropriate pace.

Third-year studies focus exclusively on organic chemistry and practical components from the BSc Chemistry (F100) program, complemented by specialized pharmacology modules. These aim to develop your ability to apply chemical and pharmacological knowledge to pharmaceutical challenges, particularly in drug discovery and development.

If you aspire to a chemistry research career within the first 18 months, you may transfer to either the MChem Chemistry with Pharmacology (F1BF) or MChem Chemistry (F102) programs, provided you maintain a 2:1 average (60% or above).
This program includes an optional international year. The study abroad opportunity allows you to spend an academic year at a partner university, broadening both your educational and cultural experiences. This international year occurs between your second and third years, extending your degree by one year.
