Explore our planet Earth: from natural disasters to valuable resources, from the evolution of life to the story of our world's formation. No prior geology background is required, and this program can launch your career as a professional geologist in fields like petroleum, mining, engineering geology, and environmental consulting. You'll receive comprehensive, hands-on training in contemporary geology, with special focus on fieldwork. During your first two years, we cover all fundamental geology concepts. In your third year, you'll complete an independent field project and write a thesis. Advanced fieldwork in years three and four includes trips to Northern Spain and Tenerife.
Beyond geological expertise, you'll develop versatile professional skills. You'll gain experience working both independently and collaboratively, with opportunities to lead teams. You'll practice presenting information through reports, posters, and speeches while mastering various software and specialized tools. Managing your independent project will enhance your time-management and organizational abilities, teaching you to synthesize diverse data sources at multiple scales to address practical challenges.
Several programs in our School incorporate lab and field components. Field studies occur in diverse settings, from urban centers to coastal areas and mountain ranges. We welcome applications from students with disabilities and evaluate them equally, with accommodations available to ensure accessibility.
