Exploring Geography and Planning will transform how you view and analyze the world. This field provides distinctive perspectives on urban, suburban, and rural development, along with ways to facilitate positive change. Our BA (Hons) in Geography and Planning combines the practical problem-solving of planning with geographical theories that shape our understanding of global systems. Liverpool's innovative approach to urban renewal makes it the perfect setting to examine our evolving world. This balanced program integrates both disciplines while allowing room for optional sociology courses, creating a diverse and interdisciplinary academic experience.

You'll gain insights into contemporary societal issues, learn to interpret complex phenomena, and explore philosophical debates about humanity's relationship with the environment.

We help students develop strong verbal, written, and visual communication abilities while participating in collaborative projects and hands-on learning – skills that translate directly to professional settings.

Field trips form an essential component of modules throughout all years of study.

This program was developed alongside related degrees, with foundational modules in the first two years shared between Planning and Geography BA (Hons) programs. This structure enables students to switch between these courses during early study if their goals evolve.
Several programs in our School incorporate lab and field research conducted in diverse environments, from urban centers to coastal and mountain regions. We welcome applications from students with disabilities and will make appropriate accommodations to ensure equal access to all aspects of the program.
