The Practice Portfolio PhD offers experienced professionals in healthcare, social care, education, and policy a pathway to earn a Doctorate by showcasing their field contributions. Candidates compile their professional achievements into a portfolio accompanied by an analytical narrative that highlights their original, impactful work in their practice area. While research elements may be included, they're not mandatory. For the publications-based PhD, applicants must present three to five influential works that serve as the foundation for assessment. We welcome research proposals across all health and social care domains and will provide supervisory support where possible, depending on available resources and faculty expertise.

Qualification Requirements

A minimum upper second class honours degree in a related subject or registered professional qualification.

Must be currently practising in a health, social work, or social care environment, or School/Faculty in a higher education institution.


Overseas students will be required to demonstrate English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS 7.0 overall, with a minimum of 6.5 in each element.
