Zoology explores animal evolution, functionality, and their relationships with ecosystems. This field combines anatomy, physiology, behavior, ecology, evolutionary biology, and conservation to offer a holistic view of species diversity and biological systems. As humans reshape the world at an unprecedented pace, animals must continually adapt. Examining Earth's remarkable animal variety illuminates our own origins while offering insights into future evolutionary pathways. Our MPhil/PhD program equips students with advanced research capabilities through focused investigation of specialized topics. Lincoln's zoology department is guided by research-focused academics spanning multiple disciplines, covering contemporary zoological studies across various invertebrate and vertebrate species. The university offers skill-building training programs to enhance research competencies. With mentorship from PhD advisors, candidates will present their findings through university seminars and global academic conferences. Students will also draft progress reports, hone academic writing for peer-reviewed publications, and master thesis communication under supervisor guidance. In addition to acquiring discipline-specific expertise (such as molecular lab techniques or animal behavior studies), research degrees cultivate transferable abilities including analytical thinking, project management, collaborative skills, and effective communication.
