This program offers students the chance to explore the scientific principles behind animal health and disease. Topics may cover animal health processes, pathogen and parasite life cycles, infection and immunity mechanisms, preventive strategies, or diagnostic and treatment methods, examining these across diverse species—from exotic and companion animals to livestock, wildlife, and even humans. Participants gain access to the University's specialized training courses designed to enhance essential research competencies. With mentorship from academic advisors, students will have opportunities to present their findings through talks and seminars at the University of Lincoln, as well as at national and international conferences. They will also learn to draft progress reports, refine their academic writing for peer-reviewed publications, and effectively convey their research and thesis. In addition to subject-specific expertise, pursuing this research degree cultivates transferable skills such as problem-solving, time management, teamwork, and communication. The program emphasizes self-directed study and research, guided by a panel of faculty advisors. While the research focus varies by discipline, each project aims to address an original scientific question and contribute new knowledge to the field.
